JEDDAH, 15 April — About 19 research papers are to be presented at the 12th annual meeting of Saudi Obstetric and Gynecological Society (SOGS) at King Abdul Aziz University Hospital here on April 17-18.
Dr. Ghazi Obeid Madani, president of King Abdul Aziz University, will open the two-day event which includes a special Internet workshop for obstetricians.
Professor Hassan Jamal, president of the society, highlighted the significance of the conference and said it would discuss new developments in the areas of obstetrics and gynecology.
Research papers will cover early pregnancy, antenatal care, high risk pregnancy, labor management, multiple pregnancies, male infertility, contraception and aging in women.
Dr. Maarof Haj Mohideen, academic coordinator of the society and director of the research & training center at King Fahd Hospital, will present a paper on “The virtual world and its future implications for the OBGYN practice.”
Dr. Khaled Sait will give a presentation on “Management of early stage carcinoma of the cervix.” Is Buscopan (Hyoscine-N-Butylbromide) effective in shortening labor is the topic for Dr. Faeza Al-Matari’s presentation.
Mariyam Fatallah, Hasan Al-Gamy, Hisham Arab, Ayaz Mahmoud, Asma Hausawi, Hasan Abdul Jabbar, Amal Serehi, Hanan Felimban, Jumana Al-Aama, Ahmad Al-Zahrani, Karim Salama and Othman Sindi will also present papers.
