JEDDAH, 2 May — The last will of Arab fighter Khattab, poisoned last week by Russian agents in Chechnya, was that young Muslim men should "always fight against the infidels," his elder brother Mansour Suwailem said yesterday.
The nine-point will contained in a letter sent by Khattab to his family also advised young Muslims not to start jihad in a country if unprovoked, Mansour told Al-Hayat newspaper.
The will urged Mujahedeen to try to win more friends than enemies, always consult religious scholars, not to interfere in people’s internal affairs and to stay away from factionalism.
Khattab died five minutes after reading a poisoned letter, said his family, which is still receiving condolences from a large number of people in the eastern Saudi town of Dana.
Khattab, whose real name is Samer ibn Saleh Al-Suwailem, was born in northern Saudi Arabia in 1970. He had planned to move his jihad operations from Chechnya to target Israelis in the Palestinian territories, Mansour said Monday. Khattab worked for Saudi Aramco before obtaining a scholarship to study in the United States.
