JEDDAH, 17 May — Police have launched a search operation for a 20-year-old girl who has been missing in a valley in Baljurashi in the Baha region since Tuesday, Al-Riyadh newspaper reported yesterday.
The girl, who was mentally unstable, went missing when her parents were taking her to a country doctor for treatment of her illness.
The parents said they stopped their car near a mosque to offer afternoon prayers. When they entered the mosque, the girl said she wanted to drink water and went to the car alone, but she did not come back.
When her parents returned to the car to resume their journey, they realized that the girl was missing. With the help of relatives who were called in, the parents searched for the girl in nearby areas in vain before alerting the police.
The police said the search operation was very difficult because the area is full of high mountains, forests and deep ravines. They denied reports that the girl had since been discovered.
