This is an urgent call from the National Conservatory of Music in Palestine (NCM) upon all teachers of music to show solidarity with the Palestinian young generation studying music at the NCM to become the future musicians of Palestine despite all means to hamper their strong will of fulfilling their endeavours and aspirations.
The National Music Conservatory in Palestine has the following three vacant positions for music teachers:
·Guitar
·Violin
·Piano
The teachers should be well qualified and hold either conservatory or university degrees in their instruments. Teaching experience would be more than welcome. The teachers would teach students of different age groups starting from 8 to 20 years of age. The teaching takes place at the three branches of the Conservatory in Jerusalem, Ramallah and Bethlehem. Candidates should be willing to come from September 2002 until July 2003, and preferably commit themselves to a two-year contract. It is preferred that candidates are politically aware and have position of support to the Palestinian struggle for independence. This would make it easier for recruited teachers to adapt to the current situation of Palestine.
The actual teaching load of a teacher is 20 hours per week. The NCM usually pays a monthly salary of $800.00 plus a $200.00 living allowance, plus a round-trip air ticket from the teacher‚s home country.
