ABHA, 13 July — The fourth Abha Shopping Festival was inaugurated by Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, governor of Asir region on Thursday at a colorful ceremony at Abha Exhibition Center. This shopping extravaganza has been organized by Star Co.
The monthlong Abha Shopping Festival is one of the main events on the summer calendar of Asir region which is playing a pivotal role in promoting domestic tourism in the Kingdom. People from all over the Kingdom and neighboring countries visit the beautiful mountain resort during summer months.
Around 25,000 people are expected to visit the shopping festival daily, 50% more than on weekends, said Shahid Akram Abbasi, financial controller of Star Co. Nearly 300 companies are participting in the festival which features pavilions of Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Syria and Bahrain besides prestigious Saudi firms which sell their products at discounted prices.
The organizers have ensured that the festival is fun for the whole family. Horse riding, amusement park, small cars rides, circus, baby theater, fun fare theater, babies competition events and car jumping are some of the attractions for children who are expected in large numbers because of school vacation. Also on offer are car raffles, daily shopping draws, variety of foods and cultural programs.
