RIYADH, 17 July — King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) will sign here today two contracts with a German firm to provide consultancy services in information technology and patenting.
Under the first contract, the German Foundation for Technical Cooperation will set up and equip the infrastructure of Master Keys (MK) for the Kingdom.
MK is a group of computer programs, devices and services that enable users to exchange information in a highly secured and documented manner.
It also ensures secrecy of data by securing and protecting them from hackers and from being altered, according to KACST Vice President for Scientific Research Support Dr. Abdullah ibn Ahmad Al-Rasheed.
Dr. Al-Rasheed noted that KACST was assigned this project on the recommendation of the Permanent Committee for e-Commerce.
Dr. Al-Rasheed said the patents consultancy agreement will cover industrial designs, botanical items, planning designs for integrated circuits, research management and inspection of patents by specialists. (SPA)
