Today, our country and the Arab nation at large are facing crucial times. Attempts are being made to control and dominate each country in the region by surrounding it with foreign military bases and muzzling the voices of honest people demanding their rights.
As citizens we should embark on some soul-searching and judicious planning to cope up with this foreign military and media onslaught against our most valuable assets: our religion and our country. The voice we want others to listen to is one for upholding justice and equality and one that boldly proclaims that as a people we stand united in defense of our religion and country.
Crown Prince Abdullah has outlined such a vision: "All of us are responsible before Almighty Allah and before our country and before each other to see that justice is established. Each individual must fulfill their part of the responsibility to realize equality and equal opportunities and ensure that no one infringes on the rights of others and that everyone is granted their rights without any delay."
We need to fully grasp what these words convey and strive to apply them while securing the mechanism that would guarantee the rights of all - citizens as well as officials.
It is our duty and responsibility to stand united behind this man whose main concern is this country and its people. Should we let him go at it alone or should we all work collectively and start the reform process we need to protect our country and the future of our children and coming generations?
What are the tools and mechanisms needed for this task? Collectively, we should put our heads together and join the Crown Prince in finding the appropriate solutions to our problems. What shall be the point of reference to ensure that our rights remain intact? What are the penalties for those who fail to understand that public interest comes before private concerns? Individual gain has sapped at our strengths, taking away valuable time that should have been invested in building our country and its institutions.
This calls for a revival involving each one of us. Only dedication and loyalty to our religion and country will enable us to stand up to those who oppose us and foil their designs. Justice and equality represent the real strength of a people that no enemy can defeat. We should be on guard against weak minds and treacherous souls.
We should counter the threats to our country and religion by upholding justice, equality and accountability and ensuring people their rights. This way we could build one solid front that neither our enemies nor those of weak minds among us would dare infiltrate.
