RIYADH, 24 July — Prince Ahmad ibn Salman, chairman of Saudi Research & Marketing Group, had dedicated a considerable amount of his time for humanitarian and charitable activities. The late prince was the secretary-general of Prince Fahd Charitable Association for Kidney Patients and a member of the general assembly of the Disabled Children’s Association (DCA).
Prince Ahmad had prepared all the papers for the renewal of the agreement between SRMG and the DCA. He wanted to sign the agreement in the presence of Prince Sultan ibn Salman, chairman of the association, and a group of handicapped children at the group’s headquarters in Riyadh.
“Prince Ahmad had told his brother Prince Sultan that he would sign the memorandum of understanding in the presence of a group of handicapped children who are under the association’s care,” Dr. Fahd Al-Tayash, director general of Saudi Research & Publishing Company and member of DCA’s media committee, told Arab News.
Tayash highlighted Prince Ahmad’s concern for the handicapped. “The prince had emphasized the importance of educating the society on the reasons for handicap and how to prevent handicap,” he said and commended the prince’s all-out support for the association’s projects in various parts of the Kingdom.
Abdullah Al-Sheikh, a member of DCA’s board and chairman of the media committee, underscored the late prince’s continuous support for the association, adding that it reflected his commitment for philanthropic activities.
“Prince Ahmad approved the extension of the agreement between SRMG and DCA on Feb. 10, 2002. This allowed the association to make use of the remaining SR1.5 million from the SR5 million deal,” he added.
The publishing group had offered to give SR5 million donation to the association in the form of advertisement space in its various publications.
Prince Sultan ibn Salman had earlier sent a message to Prince Ahmad, commending the group’s continuous support for his organization. “This support has enabled the DCA to achieve many of its objectives.”
The SRMG, in its agreement with DCA, promised that it would support the association to achieve its objectives by publishing news and articles. The group has also agreed to distribute DCA’s magazine free of charge.
