JEDDAH, 5 August — The Labor and Social Affairs Ministry’s office in the Makkah region is investigating the death of a 14-year-old orphan girl after she had left King Fahd Hospital here. The ministry officials blamed the hospital for not providing proper treatment to the girl. An informed source told Arab News that the hospital’s emergency department refused to keep the girl under observation, despite her worsening health condition caused by a heart ailment.
The girl was under the care of Al-Birr Charitable Society. The sources said the girl died two hours after she left the hospital for her residence at the charitable society in the Zahra district. The ministry officials also charged that the hospital refused to keep the girl’s body in its morgue.
