WASHINGTON, 16 August —Family members of more than 300 victims of the Sept. 11 attacks yesterday filed a lawsuit against the Saudi royal family and several foreign banks, including those in Saudi Arabia and Sudan, for allegedly funding Osama Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda. According to a report in Asharq Al-Awsat, the group of family members and survivors accused seven international banks operating mainly in the Middle East, eight Islamic foundations and charities of helping to fund Al-Qaeda. The banks named in the case include Al-Baraka Investment and Development Corp, National Commercial Bank, Faisal Islamic Bank, and Al-Shamal Islamic Bank. The charitable groups include the International Islamic Relief Organization, Sanabel Al-Khair Inc, Muslim World League, Saar Foundation, Rabita Trust, Al-Haramain Islamic Foundation, Benevolence International Foundation, and the World Assembly of Muslim Youth.
