JEDDAH, 22 August — Saudi Arabia appointed yesterday a new chief of the Kingdom’s Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.
Prince Abdullah, the regent, issued a decree naming Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Ghaith as president of the commission, a post with the rank of a minister.
With immediate effect, he replaces outgoing chief Abdul Aziz Al-Saeed whose four-year term has expired.
The commission has a force of more than 3,500 men. It has 13 branches throughout the Kingdom and is planning to open more to expand its activities.
