BAGHDAD, 22 August — Iraqi Vice President Taha Yasin Ramadan yesterday called on Saudi Arabia to resume diplomatic relations with his country. He also commended the growing trade relations between the two countries in recent years. "Iraq is willing to restore full diplomatic relations any time Riyadh chooses," Ramadan told Asharq Al-Awsat. "The drums of war beaten by the United States currently are not aimed at Iraq alone but at the whole Arab and Muslim world," he warned. Washington sees the Kingdom as a "source of danger", he said, referring to the Rand Corp. report. Ramadan also expressed Baghdad’s willingness to normalize relations with the United States. The Iraqi leader said the issue between his country and the US involved more than the return of arms inspectors. Washington was angered over Iraq’s support for Palestinians, he said.
