RIYADH, 23 August — Dr. Naif Al-Shaalan, a Saudi national, has said that the US media wrongly implicated him in a drugs trafficking case but the issue was “a clear case of mistaken identity.” He said a man arrested at Miami airport with a large quantity of narcotics had a name similar to his but the media mistakenly said he was the culprit. Saudi authorities had since investigated him and absolved him of any wrongdoing, he said.
