MUSCAT, 25 August — Omani authorities have arrested members of an Al-Qaeda cell in the country and extradited them to the United States for questioning, Asharq Al-Awsat daily reported quoting American security sources. The sources refused to give the nationalities of the suspected Al-Qaeda members and their number. “They are being investigated to ascertain their connection with Al-Qaeda and its leader Osama Bin Laden,” the sources told the Arabic daily. The American sources praised Omani security officers for their efforts to track down the suspects. The sources believed that the suspects might have entered Oman from Pakistan.
