JEDDAH, 25 August — The owner of a wedding hall in Baha, a city in the south of the Kingdom, locked a bride and groom in the hall shortly before they were to leave because the rent for the hall had not been paid in full. He said he would not release them until the money was paid, Al-Riyadh newspaper reported yesterday. The incident occurred while several women guests were present in the hall. The bridegroom was embarrassed and humiliated and if some elders had not intervened, the dispute would have led to a serious fight between the relatives and the owner. The owner finally agreed to release the bride and groom but only after the elders guaranteed the payment.
