ALMATY, 30 August — An Islamic training course organized here by the Makkah-based Muslim World League (MWL), in cooperation with Kazakhstan’s Abay University, concluded yesterday. The seven-day course was attended by 34 students. Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Humeid, supervisor of Islamic call at the MWL, and Dr. Saad ibn Ali Al-Shahrani, from the faculty of Islamic call at the Makkah-based Umm-ul Qura University, delivered lectures and MWL Secretary-General Dr. Abdullah Al-Turki, awarded certificates and prizes to outstanding students. Dr. Turki yesterday visited Abay state university and met with its director Tec Mohammed Sadiqov and staff. At the end of the visit, Dr. Turki was awarded an honorary doctorate by the university. Almaty Governor Kryomov also received him. Meanwhile, the MWL-sponsored conference on the “History and Contemporary Islam in Central Asia” continued its sessions here. (SPA)
