JEDDAH, 4 September — Pakistanis working in Saudi German Hospital (SGH) organized a grand function here last week to mark the 55th Independence Day (Aug. 14) of their motherland. President of the SGH Sobhi Batterjee was the chief guest on the occasion. Saljooq Tarar, vice consul at the Consulate General of Pakistan congratulated the Pakistani community for organizing the function. Azeez Amed, general secretary Pakistan Engineers’ Society, read a paper on this occasion. Sardar Rahmat Khan in his address highlighted the plight of Kashmiris fighting for their right of self-determination and said “today we should take pledge to support with all means the rights of plebiscite for the Kashmiris.” Ghulam Shabbir Shah thanked Batterjee for his support in organizing the function. Ehsanual Haque convener Pakistan Repatriation Council (PRC) also praised Batterjee and Shah for extending their support in organizing such a grand function. Amir Muhammad Khan of Pakistan Jouranlists’ Forum appreciated the patriotic fervor of the Pakistani community and thanked Batterjee for reposing faith in the community’s manpower and expertise. Other guests included Saleem Nisar, GM/PIA, H.O. Beck Chief Consultant SGH. Rafiq Al-Zyyan. The stage secretary was Mian Enamullah.
