RIYADH, 8 September — The first SR1 million prize of Asharq Al-Awsat interactive contest went to a Syrian, Ahmad Sabbagh. The winner was selected through a draw.
Yasser El-Dabbagh, managing director of Saudi Research and Publishing Company (SRPC), Dr. Fahd Al-Tayash, SRPC’s director general, and Salah Al-Balawi, president of Saudi Call, attended the draw held on Thursday.
The second prize, SR300,000, was won by Mohammed Eid Al-Marwani of Jeddah while Elham Suleiman Al-Anazi, a housewife from Riyadh, won the third prize of SR100,000.
The non-stop contest offers prizes with a total value of SR24 million in two years, averaging SR1 million a month.
Sabbagh said his wife was the driving force behind his participation in the event. Marwani was overcome with joy to learn about his winning the second prize at the most unexpected time.
