SANAA, 15 September — The fourth international arbitration conference began here yesterday. Organized by the Arab Union for Arbitration in cooperation with the Yemeni Center for Arbitration, the two-day conference is attended by representatives of 12 Arab countries in addition to presidents of the federations of Arab chambers of commerce and industry. The participants will review problems of Arab arbitration in the light of the current challenges.
The Saudi delegation is led by Prince Dr. Bandar ibn Salman, adviser at the court of Prince Abdullah, the regent.
Prince Bandar told the inaugural session that the Kingdom has been paying utmost attention to the issue of arbitration . He noted that the treaty of Taif concluded by Saudi Arabia and Yemen stipulated arbitration in case of disputes, but thanks to the wisdom of the Saudi and Yemeni leaderships, the border dispute between the two countries was settled without resorting to arbitration. Prince Bandar also commended the Yemeni leadership in similarly settling the Yemeni-Eritrean dispute. (SPA)
