Arabia.com has introduced the first phase of its "web-based office on the move." The company itself is on the move. It has shifted most of its staff back to Jordan where it was originally based. Arabia.com is in heavy competition with Maktoob.com for revenue from Gulf sources, especially Saudi Arabia. Maktoob maintained its presence in Jordan, to keep costs down, and it seems that Arabia.com rethought its move to Dubai after examining its overhead. The new arabia.com e-mail service is an attempt to wean the company away from advertising revenue as its main source of income. While its basic web-based e-mail will remain free, Arabia.com hopes that owners of small businesses and businessmen who travel frequently, will be attracted to its "Platinum extras." The company claims that its new premium e-mail has more features than any other e-mail service in the Arab world.
