JOHANNEBOURG, 17 September — A seminar was organized here on Sunday evening on “the role of Islamic call in combating terrorism.” The seminar, presided by Dr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Sudais, Imam of the Holy Mosque in Makkah, was attended by Minister of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance Sheikh Saleh Al-Sheikh. The seminar was held as part of the ongoing session of the Islamic Cultural Forum of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
Addressing the seminar, Dr. Ahmed Omer Abdullah, supervisor of Islamic preachers in Ghana, underscored the need to differentiate between terrorism and Palestinians’ resistance to Zionist occupation. He said the incidents of Sept.11 were a flagrant attack on innocent people.
He noted that the Islamic Jihad aimed at fighting injustice and enhancing the pillars of justice, security and peace. Dr. Abdullah pointed out that Islam had preceded all man-made laws in combating terrorism and protecting societies from evils. (SPA)
