JEDDAH, 18 September — Eight persons, including five members of a family, died in two accidents in Bani Malik and Gurayyat, Al-Riyadh newspaper reported yesterday.

The 10-member Saudi family met with the accident while they were returning to their house in Thaqeef, south of Taif, after performing Umrah.

When they reached Rakhmat on the tourist road south of Taif late at night, the driver fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle, the paper said. Their vehicle collided with a car coming from the opposite direction, injuring a newly wed couple, who was going to Taif. The dead included the father and mother, their daughter and two sons, the paper said.

In the second accident at Gurayyat, a cold storage truck rammed into a car on the International Road, killing two Saudi brothers inside the car. The Bangladeshi driver of the truck also died.
