JEDDAH, 6 October — Makkah Governor Prince Abdul Majeed yesterday urged a board meeting of Jeddah Holding Company to find a quick solution to the city’s sewage water problem in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs.
Prince Abdul Majeed, who is the company’s honorary chairman, also called for a system to organize sewage water tankers in the city to avoid unloading sewage water in the sea or land that would affect the city’s groundwater.
Zuhair Fayez, chairman of the board, said the Jeddah Holding would contribute to a mobile sewage water network project, which is a temporary solution until the work on a permanent network is completed.
“We have completed all studies related to the new sewage water network,” Fayez said, adding that efforts are under way to solve the problem completely.
The meeting discussed the company’s new projects including setting up an an Islamic heritage village and development of central Jeddah Corniche.
“The meeting discussed the projects in which JHC will participate after its registration,” Fayez told reporters. The meeting also discussed prospects of establishing a new company in which JHC will have stakes along with other investors.
