JEDDAH, 12 October — Qazi Ahmad Moinuddin, an authority on fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and marriage and divorce in Islam, died in Aurangabad in the western state of Maharashtra recently after a prolonged illness. The news of his death was received with shock and grief by a large number of his admirers who recalled the oratorical skills of Sadar Qazi, as he was popularly known. The late Qazi Moinuddin, former registrar of Marathwada University, was a household name in Aurangabad, where he worked tirelessly for the uplift of the Muslim community.
