DUBAI, 13 October — Prince Alwaleed ibn Talal has affirmed that North & East Africa, Central & South Asia, and the Middle East economies need to strengthen cooperation and establish strategic partnerships, both on the regional level and on the international level, in order to compete in the global economy.
The issue of developing and managing strategic partnerships will be addressed by Prince Alwaleed at the Dubai Strategic Forum 2002 in Dubai from Oct. 28-30, under the patronage of General Sheikh Mohammed Iibn Rashid Al Maktoum, crown prince of Dubai and UAE minister of defense.
Prince Alwaleed said that growth in the new economy would depend more and more on collaboration. He said that developing and managing strategic partnerships was the key to achieving this goal. At the forum, the prince will share valuable insights on how to identify and manage partnerships that facilitate the transition from a regional to a global investor and highlight the challenges and opportunities facing the region from the view point of international investors.
At the forum, leading voices representing business, government and academia from around the world are scheduled to debate issues relating to development and regional cooperation in the Middle East, North and East Africa and Central & South Asia. These areas contain one-third of the world’s population but account for only five percent of the world’s gross domestic product (GDP). The main focus will be enhancing dialogue and interaction between the principal representatives of the region. The forum accomplishes its mission by setting up annual meetings of prominent business executives, leading government figures, experts from academia, and key representatives of civil society and the media. Together they address the critical economic, government and societal issues affecting the region in a forward-looking, action-oriented way.
The forum’s structure is designed to promote a constructive and collaborative approach to regional issues. It includes sessions with featured speakers and panel discussions, seminars, workshops, working lunches, bilateral meetings and various networking events.
