JEDDAH, 13 October — Dubai Indian Islamic Center is making preparations to telecast its third Islamic program on Asianet television channel during the upcoming Ramadan, according to P.T. Abdul Rahman Muhammad, the program director and the center’s general secretary.
The program named “Dharmarekha,” in Malayalam language, portrays the life and times of the prophets right from Adam to Isa (peace be upon them). Dharmarekha’s 30 episodes, each with a 30-minute duration, will be aired on primetime everyday throughout Ramadan. “The program was planned to remove the misconceptions about Islam, which is the most peaceful religion,” Abdul Rahman said.
“Spreading moral values and promoting universal brotherhood propagated by the prophets is the need of the hour,” he added.
The center’s last two programs were widely applauded. The third program spotlights the story of the mankind. A new technique has been used to narrate the stories of the prophets, he added. Abdul Rahman highlighted the Islamic center’s social activities among the Indian community in the United Arab Emirates. Many of the poor and destitute back home were also fortunate enough to receive the center’s helping hand.
The center has been organizing inter-school Qur’an recitation and cultural contests every year. “We have also conducted six free medical camps in the emirate within a short span,” he pointed out.
More than 300 people have benefited from the center’s Expatriate Protection Scheme launched in 2001.
