JEDDAH, 15 October — An English language teacher at the secondary school in Daghmiya in Alkharma had the shock of his life when the traffic department notified him of a traffic violation he had not committed, Al-Jazirah reported yesterday. He discovered the mixup when he visited the department’s office in Alkharma on Sunday for renewing his vehicle license (istimara). The traffic officer then took a printout of a traffic violation he allegedly committed in Riyadh last month. Capt. Hunaisan Al-Otaibi, traffic director in the city, told the teacher that he should pay SR900 fine to accept his application for the renewal of the istimara. The man told the officer that the last time he visited Riyadh was 15 years ago to prove the registraion of the violation was a mistake.
