RIYADH, 18 October — The Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines Inc. — Central Region Chapter, Saudi Arabia (IIEE-CRCSA) will have its hands full today starting at 7 a.m. for its 4th Annual Convention at the Marriott Hotel.
Aside from the elections of its new set of Board of Directors for 2003, Glen C. Dellera will conduct a seminar on Power System Symmetrical Fault Calculations.
According to Dellera, the seminar will deal with the basic principles in calculating the three-phase short circuit current of a power system. Since three-phase fault current is mostly the maximum fault in a power system, it is essential to determine its magnitude to specify the interruption or withstand rating of power equipment or switch gear components such as circuit breakers, busbars, cables, and switches, among others, he said. The general membership will also ratify the proposed amendments for the chapter’s constitution and by-laws, said Edwin dela Luna, IIEE-CRCSA president.
“We will also raise fund for distressed OFWs and the Philippine National Red Cross,” he said. And to make the event livelier, there will be raffle draws and door prizes await lucky winners.
IIEE-CRCSA is the only OFW professional group in the Kingdom so far to respond Philippine National Red Cross’s (PNRC) call for help in its humanitarian projects. Last month, the group remitted to the PNRC $200 collected from members during its recent technical seminar.
Eutiquio M. Guantero, Jr., founding chairman and past president of the chapter, added that aside from helping distressed OFWs and the PNRC, IIEE-CRCSA has a continuing scholarship program for poor but deserving college students in the Philippines.
“As our selected members share their technical expertise to our colleagues in the chapter, we likewise share whatever we can give to our kababayan in need. There is no small amount in helping as long as it is heartily given,” said Guantero.
Leading international electrical companies like ABB Electrical Industries Co., MESC and Nardeen Lighting will also hold a presentation seminar on their latest technologies and products.
A service center will be available to attend to some membership issues and to accept applications for the renewal of expiring PRC identification cards, said dela Luna.
