JEDDAH, 23 October — The Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers in the Western Region (PSME-WRSA) is all set for its 3rd Annual Chapter Convention, spiced up by the induction of the chapter’s new board of directors for the year 2003.
Ricardo V. Romero, chapter vice president, will preside over the convention scheduled on Friday, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., at Al Hamra Hotel Sofitel along Palestine Road.
Junn U. Berbie, the incumbent chapter president, said this year’s theme, “Bridging the Gap in Global Technology Toward Economic Recovery & International Recognition,” is very relevant and timely to the changing needs of the world.
“Mechanical engineers must be well trained in all aspects in achieving the above linkage towards excellence in technological know-how and be at par with our foreign counterparts.
“We should be fully aware of our social responsibilities for economic growth and our responsibilities to safeguard and uplift the name of our country,” he said.
Vice Consul Angelo V. Amonoy is the guest speaker and he will induct the new board of directors.
To be inducted are: Orlando L. Digma, president; Ernesto C. Cala, vice president; Joselito A. Arellano, secretary; Dominador L. Visaya, treasurer; Wilfredo C. Leoncio, auditor; Rey Anthony C. Mejia, PRO.
Ricardo E. Miguel, external affairs director; Joel O. Sison, membership director; Napoleon M Cepriaso, technical affairs director; Joselito A. Bentulan, plant tours director; John D. Calmerin, internal affairs director; Jonathan Francisco, professional enhancement director; Rogelio A. Baculi, sports director; Jose Ma. Emmanuel B. Acebuque, code of ethics director; and Mohammad Pete Entico, information technology director.
Aside from the induction ceremony, four technical seminars will also be conducted and presented by prominent consultants, managers and engineers who are knowledgeable in their field.
These seminar include Daikin’s Air Conditioners’ New Technology for Energy Savings; Operation and Maintenance of Oil Injected & Oil-free Screw Compressors; Water Pre-Treatment Processes for Industrial Application, and Unipipe Technology.
In addition, three technical papers will be presented on subjects related with air conditioning, HVAC Controls and Waste Water Treatment.
In between these activities, raffles will be drawn and door prizes will be given away to lucky attendees.
Winners of different parlor games will also receive gifts.
