RIYADH, 25 October — The first forum of Saudi charitable societies concluded here yesterday with a call to organize their activities along modern lines. It also decided to establish a collective investment fund with all charitable organizations contributing.
The resolutions passed by the forum urged the Labor and Social Affairs Ministry to increase its annual assistance to charitable organizations.
"The participants called for greater coordination and cooperation among the charities to make use of their expertise," a press statement after the conference said. They also sought to activate the role of endowments in supporting charitable activities, it added.
The conference urged authorities to provide 50 percent discount to charitable societies on water, posts, telephones and Internet charges.
