RIYADH, 26 October — Dr. Othman Al-Rabeea, deputy health minister, has predicted that infant mortality rate in the Kingdom would soon reach less than 10 per 1,000 new births. Speaking to Al-Watan newspaper, he said infant mortality rate has dropped from 50 to 19 per 1,000 births three years ago. "There is also considerable decrease in the rate of infectious diseases among children as a result of vaccination campaigns," he pointed out. Rabeea said life expectancy of people in the Kingdom could reach 77 within 20 years.
