RIYADH, 26 October — A website on the Indian diaspora has been launched here to mark the celebration of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas to be held in New Delhi on Jan. 9-11. The event will coincide with the date of return of Mohandas Gandhi, India’s freedom hero, from South Africa to India on Jan. 9, 1915. The event is expected to be attended by a cross-section of Indian expatriates from all over the world. A member of the Indian Doctors, Engineers, Architects, Accountants and Lawyers Society (IDEALS), Rashid Ali Sheikh, launched the site on behalf of the group at a function attended by Ziaur Rahman, president of IDEALS, Shuja Sheriff, general secretary, and a large number of the expatriates. IDEALS has been selected by the Indian government as the nodal point in the Kingdom for promoting Pravasi Bharati Divas event.
