RIYADH, 28 October — There is a great demand for web designers, network engineers, system administrators, software programmers and hardware engineers in the Kingdom’s IT sector and medical transcriptionists, nurses and other paramedical personnel in the health care sector.
This was disclosed to Arab News by M.M. Mohamed Jameel, chairman and managing director of the Hal Group, who said the expanding job market for technical personnel has heralded a new trend in the Kingdom’s employment scene.
"In fact, Sri Lanka had a Job Fair in Colombo on Oct. 23, when leading recruiting agencies from the island republic showcased their manpower supply skills." The Hal chairman is now in Riyadh along with his consultant U.L.M. Ismail on a working visit. He has already signed contracts with some major public and private sector organizations for manpower supply. So far, the company has recruited for the Middle East over 25,000 Sri Lankan workers, a majority of them for the Kingdom.
"We are not just a supplier of housemaids or municipal workers. In fact, 75 percent of our recruits were technicians for the Kingdom’s airports, hospitals, the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, air base in Taif and Jeddah, universities and Saudi Aramco," Jameel said.
