RIYADH, 28 October — A new managing committee for the International Indian School Riyadh (IISR) will be elected on Nov. 1. Eleven candidates are contesting the elections for seven positions, of which two are from the previous committee. Five members of the previous managing committee had filed nominations, of which two — Muhammad Ali Poonur and Dr. Jamshedur Rehman Khan — were selected to contest. Of the 11 candidates, four are from Hyderabad, while none is from Karnataka. Kerala and Tamil Nadu are represented by two candidates each, while Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Manipur have one each. The Riyadh Indian School Parents’ Forum has issued a statement calling on parents not to vote previous MC members. "We have no personal grudge against any candidate from the former MC. However, we are issuing this statement in the community’s interest," the statement said, adding that the previous committee had failed miserably in serving the cause of IISR.
