JEDDAH, 26 November 2002 — DIT Events has affirmed that COMDEX Saudi Arabia will be held in Jeddah, April 6-9, 2003. According to a DIT marketing representative, COMDEX Saudi Arabia, now in its fourth year, is firmly established as the proven business-to-business IT event in the Kingdom. Last year, COMDEX attracted more than 18,000 professional trade visitors. DIT believes there is more than enough justification for continuing to host the event in Jeddah. The company pointed out that Saudi Arabia is the largest IT market in the Middle East. The Kingdom has been bucking the global economic slowdown and is sustaining an annual IT spend of about $2 billion. Sales in the Kingdom account for 45 percent of the total Arabian Gulf computer market with a projected annual growth of over 20 percent. DIT feels that Jeddah, as Saudi Arabia’s commercial capital, is the only logical place to hold COMDEX. The event has the support of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), the oldest and largest in Saudi Arabia with approximately 40,000 members including the largest collection of small to medium-sized enterprises, which account for 70-80 percent of the trading, services and industrial sectors in Saudi Arabia.
