RIYADH, 30 November 2002 — Prince Sultan ibn Salman, chairman of the executive committee of the Prince Salman Project for the Oasis of Science, received a donation of SR5 million from Nassir ibn Ibrahim Al-Rasheed. The check for the sum was handed to the prince by Abdul Kareem Al-Rasheed on Thursday.

Saudi Press Agency reported that the project aims to provide a science center for the benefit the people of Riyadh. It also aims to make all sections of people interested in science education and promote study of science . The project will also instill in young people a love for science.

Riyadh Governor Prince Salman, who is the chairman of the board of directors of the Riyadh Charity Foundation for Sciences, supports and encourages the scheme. The project has been adopted by the Arriyadh Development Authority in collaboration with King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology. ADA will construct an oasis of science along futuristic lines. The oasis will also help in the establishment of science museums in major Saudi cities.
