ALKHOBAR, 11 December 2002 — The Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers in the Eastern Region has formed a new charter of the Toastmasters International in the Kingdom. The new group is called PSME-SA and Friends Toastmasters Club with Unit Chapter No. 9522U.
Ransam Pirote, the charter president of the PSME-TC, said in his speech that the mechanical engineers has its own program on personal development for its members, particularly on public speaking.
PSME-TC membership is not only limited to the mechanical engineers, but also open to all interested Filipinos who wish to further develop their skills in public speaking.
Their theme “Toastmasters: Bringing out the Best in People” invites everybody to join the club.
The new chapter officers were installed by Nazeer Gazaq, area governor of Dhahran Toastmasters Club (DTC).
The chapter banner and the charter certificate was handed over to the new group by A. Ponnuchamy, area governor of the Gulf Toastmasters Club based in Bahrain.
Also gracing the installation ceremonies were Supervising Welfare Officer Sotero Tornea of the POLO-OWWA Eastern Region Operations, and Junn Corro, the multi-awarded member of the DTC.
The chartering was also supported by personalities of other members from Jubail, Abqaiq, Ras Tanura, Sand Dunes, Arabian, and Oasis toastmasters clubs.
Aside from Pirote, the other charter officers are: Efren Reyes, vice president for education; Carlito Alpay, VP membership; Virgilio Guevarra, VP public relations; Lorenzo Reyes, secretary; Eduardo Malagapo, treasurer; and Benjamin Cesora, sergeant-at-arms.
The charter members are Jojie Apolinario, Edward Berador, Armando Calizo, Reynaldo Castillo, Conrado Cruz, Murry Demdam, Fred Escuadro, Joenel Gallego, Danton Lacorum, Edwin Marcos, Lamberto Pablo, Laurecto dela Pena, Danilo Pendon, Gene Rivera, Edmar Suguitan, and Bienvenido Tajan.
New members were also installed during the ceremony. They are: Alfredo Bertiz, Edgar Bonotano, Lorenzo Gallego, Mamerto Juanite, Ariel Malaguena, and Jalilo dela Torre.
