RIYADH, 15 December 2002 — An Egyptian expatriate worker burned Saudi riyal notes worth SR5,390, saying the money was unlawful as he and his colleague received it through improper means.
The Court of Grievances cleared the Egyptian from any wrongdoing after the Commission for Supervision and Investigation had filed a case against him.
The court said the law prohibited only partial ruining of the notes and the man had ruined it completely.
The commission appealed against the decision taken by the court’s division bench but the court did not accept it and issued its final verdict, Al-Watan reported.
