BenQ has been voted No. 1 as the “most innovative company in response to customer needs” in the Far Eastern Economic Review survey. The survey, now in its 10th year, was carried out by ACNielsen International Research and comprised 210 multinational corporations.
“We’re delighted that our efforts to research and exceed our customers’ expectations have been rewarded in this way and that, once again, BenQ stands out from the competition,” said Robert Dung, managing director, BenQ Middle East. “Last year, we conducted over 50 types of research studies in order to understand customers’ habits and lifestyles better. This has enabled us to be more innovative, customer aware and responsive than other multinationals in our industry. This culture of innovation and getting close to our customers has certainly helped to differentiate us in the Middle East markets.”
For 2003, BenQ is already showing continued signs of success in the region. The company announced that sales for its range of digital projectors, were up 200 percent on this time last year. Increasing use of the projectors as a key tool in offices and schools, falling prices, and a growing number of “home cinema” enthusiasts in the region, are among the factors powering sales in the Middle East. Although corporate sales currently account for around 80 percent of the total projector market, the rising popularity of home cinema has created a mini-boom for domestic use of projector technology.
“Domestic use of digital projectors is at an earlier stage in the Middle East than in Europe or America, but we’re seeing a growing number of enthusiasts for the home cinema experience,” said Dung. “For customers who are put off by the comparatively high price of plasma displays and wide-screen televisions, or the inferior picture quality of projection television, digital projectors offer a fantastic alternative for watching their favorite films.”
