JEDDAH, 29 October 2003 — The Ministry of Education plans to build 2,000 new schools to cope with the growing number of students, Al-Madinah reported. Education Minister Dr. Muhammad Al-Rasheed told the paper his ministry had “numerous projects” pending because of a shortage of suitable sites. According to the minister, education accounted for 27 percent of the Kingdom’s budget.
