JEDDAH, 10 November 2003 — Representatives of various Maranao organization have been invited to a meeting to discuss plans to hold a “mini-Olympics.” The meeting will be held on Nov. 13, starting at 11 p.m., at the Tropicana Restaurant on Tahliah St. in Jeddah, said Linogaranao Mapandi, a leader of the organizing groups Marawians International and Ranao Divers Club.
Among those invited were the Abna-Marantao International, Angoyao Inter-national, Balo-I International, Binidayan International, Diwan International, Ewaton/Maisa International, Ganasi International, Lanao Lakers. Malabang Foundation, Makkah Brothers, Malabang-Maicoop, Malumbay International, Madinah Brothers, Pantarians International, Pantao A Ragat International, Riyadh Rep., Saguiaranians International, Shakba International, Tarakanians Inter-national, and Unayan International.
Mapandi said the event is held every 2nd day of Shawwal Eid-ul Fitr at Jeddah’s famous North Obhur district “as our simple way of celebrating the Eid festivities.”
“Most of all, it gives us the unique opportunity to express to one another the greeting ‘Eid Mubbarak,’ Mapandi said in a press release.
Accredited by the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah, the Marawians was organized “to undertake programs geared toward the professional enhancement of its members” and “to initiate programs aimed at promoting Islamic awareness among its members.”
