JEDDAH, 24 November 2003 — Saudi Cable Company (SCC) enjoys a wide experience in responding to emergency situations requiring extraordinary efforts. SCC displayed this capability in ample measure when restoring power to the people of Kuwait after the Gulf War in an operation code-named “Operation Desert Light”. Now the company has been called upon to play a similar role in Iraq, where it has launched “Operation Peace Light” for restoring the power infrastructure.

SCC has received various contracts including a contract to supply its projects and services to Iraq valued at SR30 million, a contract for supply and installation of 4 circuits of 132 kV underground cables and a contract for supply of 800 kms of 400 kV overhead conductors. In addition, SCC has signed a contract valued at SR100 million for supply of cables under the “Oil for food program.”

Also, SCC’s associate Midal Cables has signed a contract worth over SR30 million with Iraq for supply of overhead conductors of 400 kV.
