HOFOUF, 29 November 2003 — Prince Sultan, second deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, yesterday inaugurated two hospital units and laid the foundation stone for a heart specialist center named after him.
The prince arrived here yesterday afternoon, accompanied by Eastern Province Governor Prince Muhammad ibn Fahd and Health Minister Dr. Hamad Al-Manie.
He inaugurated Al-Jabr ENT and Ophthalmology Hospital, the first of its kind in the Eastern Province.
The prince also officially opened Al-Jabr Kidney Center, which has been operational since 2001. In his inaugural address, he said such units were an asset to the people and reflected the government’s determination to provide best possible health facilities to citizens and residents.
Prince Sultan commended the efforts of the private sector in supporting the government in providing public services. The hospital was established by Al-Jabr Group of Companies and later handed over to the Ministry of Health. The group gave SR48 million for the two projects.
The kidney center has 68 dialysis units with separate facilities for male and female patients. The center has separate dialysis facilities for patients suffering from Hepatitis B and C.
The dialysis center is thought to be one of the largest in the Gulf region. It has separate VIP facilities.
The minister later laid the foundation stone for the Prince Sultan Heart Specialist Center in Al-Ahsa, which once completed will be one of the most advanced cardiac centers in the region.
Prince Sultan has a busy schedule in Dammam today where he will meet armed forces personnel to extend the Eid greetings of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd and Crown Prince Abdullah, deputy premier and commander of the National Guard.
