JEDDAH, 13 December 2003 — Only 58 percent of Saudi girls receive primary school education, according to a UN report just released. In contrast, the Netherlands, Sweden and Tajikistan enjoy rates of 100 percent. The rate of female enrollment in the US and Vietnam is 95 percent. Somalia scored worst at 11 percent. The UNICEF report, assessing female education worldwide between 1996 and 2002, says that some 65 millions girls worldwide miss out on education.
