JEDDAH, 17 April 2004 — Makkah Governor Prince Abdul Majeed will inaugurate a number of electricity projects in Al-Jamoom province during his visit there next week, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The total value of the new projects is SR63 million.
SPA quoted Fouad Al-Shuraibi of the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) as saying the company was implementing a detailed plan to connect all villages and remote areas to the grid.
This would be done by expanding the capacity of the Al-Jamoom power station by 33 kilowatt, SPA quoted him as saying.
Some 783 subscribers in remote villages including Khaslaf, Barakah, Kadwa, Hajar, Khlaf, Nuzha and Dwemah will be connected to the grid under the plan, he said.
An additional nine villages in Al-Shameya with 698 subscribers would also be added, he said.
