The pleasure of our 10th Year Celebrations for Freedom and Democracy manifests the joy of all South Africans on achievement of the following:
• Their democratic victory of 1994.
• Progress made to build a non-racial, non-sexist South Africa.
• Economic goals toward betterment of the quality of life of all South Africans.
As the Second Decade of Democracy comes, the Missions in the Kingdom concur with conventional wisdom indicating the following outstanding imperatives for South Africa. Foreign policy imperatives include:
• The need to strengthen progress made to re-integrate South Africa within the world community of nations.
• We also celebrate contributions made by South Africa to build a better world of democracy, peace and a shared prosperity with the rest of Africa and the World.
• The bilateral cooperation role played by the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia helped us accomplish most of these important advances. Their input is herewith acknowledged with utmost gratitude.
Domestic imperatives include:
• Nation-building.
• Poverty-eradication.
• Employment creation and economic growth.
• Addressing HIV/AIDS pandemic.
The missions of South Africa in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are steadfast in their determination to entrench and consolidate South Africa’s achievements and presence in the region.
I hope all South Africans in the Kingdom will support me to assure a prospective future for South African-Saudi Arabian strategic partnership and to flag South Africa’s democratic credentials onwards to being known, tested and respected.
What is important and heartening to us is political will between the leadership of South Africa and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to broaden and deepen the relationship of which I have privilege of custody.
