RIYADH, 27 April 2004 — Acting on behalf of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II, British Ambassador to the Kingdom Sherard Cowper-Coles has formally invested Salah Ibrahim Al-Hejailan as an honorary commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire at a ceremony at the British Embassy. The investiture received the approval of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd. Al-Hejailan has been an honorary legal adviser to British ambassadors in the Kingdom since 1976. The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire was established in 1917 as a means of honoring those who have served the United Kingdom.
