RIYADH, 27 April 2004 — A fire in a girls’ school caused eight students and a teacher to faint from smoke inhalation. The school was closed for the rest of the day and the 500 girls were sent home. A spokeswoman for the school said the building had had electrical problems for a long time. The school director has requested the Ministry of Education to deal with the electrical problems to make the building safe.
