RIYADH, 2 May 2004 — Education Minister Dr. Muhammad Al-Rasheed held talks yesterday with Prince Faisal ibn Salman, chairman of Saudi Research & Marketing Group, on the prospects of strengthening cooperation between the two.
“During the meeting, both sides explored the prospects of utilizing the group’s huge potential in the service of education,” a company statement said. Officials from the Education Ministry and the company attended the meeting at SRMG’s headquarters.
“The two sides discussed a number of important issues including the prospects of training talented students who are now under the care of the King Abdul Aziz Foundation for the Gifted,” the statement said. The meeting agreed to set up a working team with representatives from both sides to study the ideas presented at the meeting.
The minister was accompanied by Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Harithy, deputy minister for girls’ education, Dr. Khaled ibn Dahaish, deputy minister for planning and administrative development, Dr. Abdullah Al-Hosayne, deputy minister for girls’ colleges, and Abdullah Al-Fowzan, deputy minister for school buildings and facilities. Other ministry officials who attended the talks were: Saleh Al-Humaidi, director general of administrative and financial affairs, Ziyad Al-Derais, supervisor of educational information and editor in chief of Al-Maarifa magazine, and Abdullah Al-Husseini, director of educational information.
SRMG officials who attended the meeting were: Dr. Azzam Al-Dakhil, managing director of Saudi Research & Publishing Company (SRPC), Dr. Fahd Al-Tayash, editor in chief of Al-Majalla, Abdul Wahab Al-Fayez, editor in chief of Al-Eqtisadiah, Saad Al-Mahdi, editor in chief of Arriyadiah, Dr. Fahd Al-Saeed, acting director general of Saudi Distribution Company, and Dr. Abdullah Al-Rifae, adviser to the chairman.
SRPC is the publisher of Arab News and a dozen other newspapers and magazines including Asharq Al-Awsat, Al-Eqtisadiah, Arriyadiah, Al-Majalla and Sayidaty.
