JEDDAH, 2 May 2004 — Prince Sultan, second deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, was admitted to the Armed Forces Hospital here yesterday for surgery, the royal court official said. Crown Prince Abdullah, deputy premier and commander of the National Guard, later visited Prince Sultan at the hospital.
Prince Abdullah met Interior Minister Prince Naif at the hospital as well as other top officials including Makkah Governor Prince Abdul Majeed, Prince Khaled ibn Sultan, assistant defense and aviation minister for military affairs, and Health Minister Hamad Al-Manie.
Earlier in a brief statement, the royal court said: “Prince Sultan was admitted to the Armed Forces Hospital in Jeddah on Saturday to undergo a surgical operation after completing the necessary medical tests.” The statement did not say when the operation would take place.
